STC India Chapter wins "Community of Distinction" award for 2007-08

STC India Chapter has won the "Community of Distinction" award for 2007-2008 year.

Award citation:

"For expanding STC influence in Indian technical communication, for
delivering value to attendees of your annual conference, for continued
contributions to students and the academic community, and for your
consistent ability to develop innovative initiatives"

Dale Erickson, Manager, Community Achievement Award Evaluation Committee (CAAEC)
As manager of the Community Achievement Award Evaluation Committee, it is my honor to inform you that the STC India Community has earned the Community of Distinction award for 2007-2008.

Your community will be recognized during the Leadership Day event on Sunday, June 1, at the summit in Philadelphia. At that time you will receive the certificate and the feedback comments from the CAAEC judge.

In addition, STC India Community will be recognized at the Honors Banquet on Tuesday, June 3. At that event, all STC India members will be welcomed on stage to receive congratulations from the STC president, Linda Oestreich.

As one of the most consistent and active communities in the CAA process, your community was yet again an impressive contender for the Community of Distinction award. The CAAEC hopes that your community will continue to aspire to this level with another set of impressive initiatives and activities next year.

Congratulations to all members of the STC India Community.
Cindy Currie STC Second Vice President (2007-2008) STC Community Advocacy Lead
Hello,

On behalf of the STC Board of Directors, I'm writing to congratulate the India chapter on being chosen as an STC Community of Distinction! This is very good news! Please share this message with your administrative council and your membership.

Communities like India represent the best of what STC has to offer in so many ways: leadership opportunities for those who want them; quality services for members; creative thinking in challenging economic times, all the hard work and commitment that goes into running a chapter, and the networking and camaraderie that a vibrant chapter brings to all who have the good fortune to experience it.

I looking forward to seeing those of you who will be at the STC Technical Communication Summit in Philadelphia next month.

Very Best,
Linda L. Oestreich STC President (2007-2008)
Last week I was privileged to be part of the STC board of directors that approved the chapter as a community of distinction. I know how much hard work and passion it takes to be amongst the very best of the best, and you and your chapter members did it!

Please give yourselves and your members my heartiest congratulations. Winning this award shows that your chapter is strong, vibrant, and innovative. And, basically, you understand what it takes to provide member value. Please extend my best wishes and appreciation to all who had a part in making STC-India a stellar performer for this year.

I congratulate all of you and wish you the very best. I will certainly be pleased to see you and the members of your chapter come up on the stage during the Honors Banquet. I know it will be an evening of excitement and pride for you and your whole team.

Thanks for all you do for the profession and for STC!
Gururaj, Past President, STC India Chapter
This is a fantastic achievement. We're losing count of how many times our chapter has won the award of distinction:) Goes to show that the STC India community has been able to sustain the great work and initiatives.
Tharun Unni, Past President of STC India Chapter
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this success story! Looks like we need to add a page on our website to list the awards won by our chapter.
Susan Alexander, Past President of STC India Chapter
Fantastic news and such an impressive citation! I think Tharun's idea of a webpage to list the awards is very apt for this award-winning chapter. Congratulations to all volunteers whose consistent efforts have enabled the chapter reach such heights.

That's right Samir!

And we are getting this award for the 4th time. This shows how well we are leading the way.
