STC India Annual Conference 2015 comes back to the beautiful city of Pune. The city offers something for everyone, and we are committed to help you explore the city. Let's make it a memorable trip.
We have listed many helpful resources on this page. These pointers will help you find more specific information from the Internet, and make informed decisions.
The venue is Hyatt Regency, Nagar Road. See the hotel website for details on location, pricing, and facilities.
Landing in Pune
Pune is well-connected by air, rail, and road. Our small but safe Lohegaon airport is a military establishment, and hence the number of International and domestic flights to Pune are limited. If you don't get a direct flight to Pune, you can take one till Mumbai. There are many options to reach Pune safely from Mumbai.
Train Service from Mumbai (Approximately 3 to 5 hours)
Bus Service from Mumbai (Approximately 3 to 5 hours)
Getting Around in Pune
Pune has a good auto rickshaw service and cab service. Most autowallahs and cab drivers are honest, and take you straight to the destination. Some of the popular cab services are listed here.
Travel advisory: Though Pune is one of the safest cities in the country with a vibrant night life, please watch out when you move around. If you are traveling by a cab, please do not share the ride with any unknown passenger.
Home Away from Home
Most of the hotels listed here are within 2-6KMs from the conference venue (Hyatt Regency, Nagar Road)/airport/railway station. (Check Google maps for specific queries.) You can further negotiate the rates for group bookings and advanced bookings. The current rates are from the hotels directly. Some portals/mobile apps like Make My Trip, Goibibo, Yatra might offer better deals for the same hotels from time to time. See a list of a few hotels. (The prices are confirmed as on August 2015.)
Note: Pune also has many decent lodges within INR 1,500-2,000 per day (cot sharing basis) near Pune Railway Station and Junglee Maharaj Road and Fergusson College Road. But most of these lodges do not provide online booking. You can visit couple of lodges/hotels around these areas after reaching Pune and bargain for a better rate.
Treats for Your Taste Buds
Pune is known for its food culture. From traditional Maharashtrian cuisine to authentic cuisines from various regions in India and across the world! All that is available on the Internet, and we are listing here only what counts as Pune specialties.
If you are left with some time at hand after the conference hours, don't forget to explore Pune. Rather, it's not a bad idea to plan one or two additional days to travel around Pune.
You can see all the above information for transportation, hotels, tourist points, and restaurants, in this spreadsheet.
