— Topic 1: The Road Ahead in Technical Communication Industry
This interactive session throws spotlight back to you- honorable technical writers and tries to understand how you have dealt with the past, braced the present and are getting ready for an interesting future in technical communication. Rajdeep discusses about the Technical Communication industry: the demands, the biggest challenges, business relevance, how is the industry shaping up and sits with you to learn and share what are the stakes for all of us.
About Speaker–
Rajdeep Gupta is the Managing Director of Blue Dots Consultancy Services. Prior to this he was selling Cloud-based Enterprise Content Management Systems for Author-it Software Corporation. He likes quizzing and did his bit for the STC India Chapter as the President earning a DCSA award in 2013. Vijay Kulkarni is the Information Development Manager at Novell India Development Center. He handles a 12 member doc team of one of the BUs at Novell IDC. He has 15 years of experience in technical writing and worked on documentation of products in multiple domains like networking, storage, ERP, and so on. He follows the latest trends in documentation and believes that sharing is the best way to learn more.

This presentation is aimed at eliminating the gaps that exist between the technical writers and translators. Critical for a localizing any product made internationally. Using Project Management as a tool, we identify the differences and gaps between technical writers and translators, install steps to mitigate or bridge these gaps so as to save cost, time and most importantly to provide the same quality product as in English into other languages, when localizing in different countries. Aim is to achieve improved time to market, efficiently.

Madhu started working in the field of translation and localization in 2005 after completing her German Language Studies from Munich, Germany. Her educational background of a Masters in Economics in combination with German Language competency helped her focus in the area of Project Management in the translation and localization industry. She also doubles up as a Freelance German Translator and typically translated technical documentation.

Valentina Gazzola is the team lead of the Quality Check team at Mayflower. She started her journey in the translation industry as a freelancer for the citizen journalism website globalvoices.org. Thanks to Mayflower, she could find new ways of applying her knowledge of foreign languages.

So while we are here talking about the best practices of Technical writing/communication, let me post this on video on Youtube & get atleast 30 Likes…such is the power of Multimedia in learning & communication today! There is a lot of substantiated research about Human brain & how it can grasp information from delivered through different medium. “theLearnia” conducted a study amongst its users about “How effectively do Video lessons teach students”. 65% said “Very Effective”, 19% said “Not Sure” & only 15% said “Not Effective”.
Some very complex subjects and highly technical information is disseminating via Multimedia today, let us look at Telecom, automotive, aeronautical technical documentation.
