STC India recognizes excellence in technical communication and outstanding service to the community with its annual awards.

It is important to recognize the individuals who have made significant contributions to the technical communication profession. It is also important to shine a light on companies that enable technical writers to learn and grow. This is our way of showing our appreciation for such people and companies.

This award recognizes excellence in product documentation. Only end-user-facing product documentation is eligible for this award.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Content refers to an entire documentation set, a document from the documentation set, or a portion of a document.
  • The content must be text, including graphics.
  • The content must be part of the end-user documentation of a product/solution offering from your company.
  • The content should have been published between October 1st, 2023, and September 30th, 2024.
  • Only end-user-facing product documentation is eligible for this award.
  • The primary creators of the documentation must be based in India.

Submission Guidelines

  • Content refers to an entire documentation set, a document from the documentation set, or a portion of a document.
  • Your submission can include a minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 50 pages.

Best Use of Emerging Technology

This award recognizes trendsetters who embrace emerging technologies and show a path for others to follow. It isn’t merely about keeping pace with the latest trends, it is about strategically integrating innovations that align with business objectives and drive sustainable growth.

Tell us how you used a new technology trend to enhance your technical communication offering to your customers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The solution should be a working prototype or in active deployment.
  • The solution should have been rolled out between October 1st, 2023, and September 30, 2024.
  • The output of your solution should be an active part of the user assistance.

The primary contributor must be based in India

Most Innovative Technical Writing Solution

This award recognizes innovation in technical writing. In your submission, you must demonstrate use of creative and innovative approaches to make content more useful.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The content should have been published between October 1st, 2023 and September 30th, 2024.
  • The entry must be original and not plagiarized.
  • The innovator/innovators must be based in India.

Influencer of the Year

This award recognizes passionate promoters of technical writing. They educate and engage with audiences about the importance, benefits, best practices, tools, and methodologies for effective technical documentation.

The engagement channel could be LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram, or any publicly available medium.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The account must be public.
  • Nomination is limited to technical writers residing in India, irrespective of role and designation.
  • At least 5 posts related to technical writing should be posted between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024.
  • You may have posted other topics on the channel, but at least 5 posts should be related to technical writing in the time frame mentioned.

  • Submission can be done by anyone, owner, or follower of the social media handle/channel.
  • You can submit any number of nominations. Please submit a separate form for each nomination.
  • Submit your Profile Analytics from your LinkedIn profile and/or equivalent from other social media profiles when requested by the jury. This data will be used for shortlisting purposes.

Community Catalyst of the Year

This award recognizes organizations or groups of individuals spearheading the task of furthering the field of technical writing. This includes groups that run learning sessions, provide mentoring for technical writers, organize courses, and foster the technical writing community.

Eligibility Criteria

The organization or group should have organized at least five events related to technical writing between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024. For example, learning sessions, meet-ups, certification courses, etc. to engage with the community using any platform, online or in-person.

  • The owner or a member of the organization or group can submit the nomination.
  • The organization or group must be based in India.
  • You can submit any number of nominations. Please submit a separate form for each nomination.
  • Fill the nomination form by providing substantial evidence of the body of work carried out by this organization or group.

People’s Choice Award: Content Strategist of the Year

This award recognizes individuals playing the role of a content strategist, information architect, or equivalent role in a technical writing team.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The total experience of the nominee must be a minimum of 15 years.
  • Nominees must have at least two years as a content strategist, information architect, or equivalent roles.
  • The nominee must be a part of a technical writing team of 10 members or more.
  • The nominee must be based in India.
  • Freelancers are not eligible for this award.

People’s Choice Award: Best Place to Work for Entry-Level Technical Writers

This award honors companies that acknowledge the role of technical writers and nurture entry-level technical writers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The company must have a team of 10 or more technical writers in India.
  • The company regularly hires interns or freshers for their technical writing team.

The company must have at least three writers with less than three years of experience in technical writing

People’s Choice Award: Best Place to Work for Experienced Technical Writers

This award honors companies that acknowledge the role of technical writers and provide growth opportunities for experienced technical writers.

The data collected through this form will be shared only with the jury members for shortlisting the submissions. The data will not be shared with external people.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The company must have a team of 10 or more technical writers in India.
  • The company has a team of writers playing diverse roles related to technical writing.
  • The company must have at least three writers with more than 3 years of experience in technical writing.
